Simplicity Breeds Success

Information is all around us in heavy doses. The advent of Google has allowed practically all to become an expert on any topic. YOU are a wealth of knowledge about YOUR BRAND and the particular industry or service you provide to the public. How well are you at communicating your knowledge to those who need to know it? Do you use long phrases and brand specific jargon to express your ideas? Would all parties in your target market understand what you do? Simplicity is BEAUTIFUL.


You should be able to talk about your brand clearly and in a concise manner. Be a wise communicator and break it down in a simple way that easily grabs the interest of all who listen. Can you sum up your vision or mission in one sentence? Are you able to give a quick 30 second elevator pitch about YOUR BRAND?


People gravitate towards what they can understand and fully comprehend. The ability for you to bridge the gap between your brand and their understanding, can be the difference between success and failure.


 Things You can do today:

1. Summarize the purpose of your brand in one sentence.

 2. Create an easy to remember elevator pitch for your brand.

3. Think of simple phrases that adequately describe your brand.

Stretching in 2022

Albert Einstein once said the definition of insanity is “doing the same thing and expecting different results.” As you and I stand on the cusp of a whole new year, will we do more of the ‘same’ or take steps outside the norm? You may be saying, what I did last year worked but did it garner the best results for your business?


Our mindset should always involve progressing from year to year. The proverbial ‘comfort zone’ is where many of us find ourselves today. We take refuge in comfort and consider it a safe place to dwell, but it is a place of stagnation and complacency.


Why should we be committed to settling when there is more to achieve and accomplish? The many technological advances we enjoy today came from minds that did not play it safe. Inventors and trailblazers constantly stretched their imaginations to bring new ideas to the world. In many cases, these ideas were for the betterment of our lives.

In other words, the best results you seek will not happen with a rinse & repeat mentality.  So now that we all agree to stretch ourselves in 2022, how do we get there practically?


1. READ MORE – whatever space you occupy, there is more information and perspectives to learn. Commit to broadening the knowledge base of your industry beyond what you knew last year.


2. LEARN A NEW SKILL – learning should be a lifelong journey for all, especially those in entrepreneurial spaces. You have no idea how a new skill can unlock your mind and cause different wheels to turn. And then, you can see how it can apply to your business because there is a connection.


3. BUILD AN UNLIKELY PARTNERSHIP – Connect with a business or organization, not within your industry and see how you can help them achieve a goal. Or work together to accomplish a joint venture. You will be in a new environment and exposed to a different audience.


4. WRITE MORE – Journal your journey, record the highs and lows, and curate blog posts about your area of expertise. Seek out opportunities to be a contributing writer about your particular lane or put out some e-books. A vast array of options are available to you.


A quick illustration:


A rubber band is a small supply at any office; it can hold things in place, help organize different documents, or even keep an object closed. The only way to ascertain the capacity of a rubber band is by stretching it before it pops. Our ability and capacity work similarly; we have no way of deciphering our limitations unless we allow stretching to occur.
